Mankind’s saddest occasion will be decidedly funnier when playwright Anthony J. Wilkinson opens his newest comedy My Big Gay Italian Funeral—the sequel to his hit off-Broadway show My Big Gay Italian Wedding—at the St. Luke’s Theatre.
Using some of the same characters from Wilkinson's long-running play, My Big Gay Italian Funeral follows the family drama and crazy characters who cause mayhem at an Italian wake. The comedy begins previews on June 1, with opening night set for June 16.
Two-time Emmy winner Sonia Blangiardo will direct the production (she also directed the latest revival of Wedding). Wedding and Funeral will run together, with the former playing on Saturdays at 8 PM and the latter on Sundays at 7 PM.
